State University of Technology at Alfred Allied Health Building Renovations
Alfred, New York
Project Description:
Allied
Health Building is an existing 50,000 square foot, three story, split level
steel framed building located on the campus of the State University College of
Technology at Alfred. The renovation has transformed the building into a
high-tech educational facility and enables professors to teach students using
modern educational practices.
The
scope of the project included a complete MEP system replacement which required
not only raising the roof of the existing mechanical penthouse but also
extending it in plan. A three story terracotta sunshade was constructed along
the front elevation to upgrade the aesthetics of the building. Built into the
side of a hill, a multi-tiered set of stairs and sitting areas were built along
the west side of the building to allow ease of student flow thru the campus.
